2012 Chrysler200 Convertible
Convertibles are oh so much fun to drive! My first encounter with a convertible was a Chrysler 200 that I rented in Rochester, NY in 2011, joy-riding with my college friends. Then, on my wedding day in 2014, I rented a Chrysler 200 convertible again to drive around the NC countryside with my new wife. Finally, when my wife was ready to buy her first car in September 2015, we found this 2012 Chrysler 200 convertible for sale for $21K with 20K miles. There was no question that it was the right car to buy.
This vehicle had a turbocharger that pumped out 283 HP. It zipped around much faster than my 2007 Chrysler 300. My favorite part was the convertible hard-top: lowering the top was a sight to behold! We could also haul around big pieces of furniture by putting the top down and dropping items into the backseat.
A month after buying the car, my wife and I took a roadtrip to Western Carolina to drive it along the Blue Ridge Parkway with the top down during the peak fall folliage. I also remember driving it down to Savannah, Georgia for a fun weekend together.
We kept our Chrysler 200 until January 2023. After selling the 300 in January 2021, the 200 became the primary family car for two years – which was tough for a two-door vehicle. Then, in late 2022, my wife got into an accident that crunched the frontend. After an excessive time in the body shop, we discovered that the engine started overheating. It was time to trade it in for a larger family-sized car. We replaced it with a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC-300. Still, both my wife and I miss having a convertible.
